We’re an independent, award-winning creative agency.

We work with high-profile, global brands such as Geroge at ASDA, Estee Lauder, Chivas, Corona, Budweiser, Nature Valley, Paco Rabanne, BA Cityflyer and a bunch of others. 

We’re pretty good at what we do. In 2018 we won five Agency of The Year(s) including The Drum DADI Agency of the Year. We were also shortlisted as Campaign Independent Agency of the Year. And, this year made it onto Campaign Magazine’s 100 best places to work.

This year we have our sights set on a D&AD and/or Cannes Lion.

There’s about 50 of us (not including the dogs) — but that number grows all the time because we’re still young, ambitious and do great work.

We’re also 70% female with a 50/50 gender split on the senior team. We proudly have 100% pay parity, and it kind of annoys us that we even have to mention that as something that’s unique within this industry. That said, we’re keen to diversify our senior team further and will consider people with transferable skills, such as art direction, writing, film making and other forms of storytelling.

We gladly do things differently. We‘re super ambitious, brutally honest and always deliver.

We don’t really like the ‘Old Guard’ of advertising. This is an agency that uses passion, ingenuity, and an anything-is-possible attitude to deliver work across all kinds of platforms. It’s one of the reasons why working here is hell of a lot of fun. Everything’s to play for.

As a growing agency, we’re looking for a Creative Director who wants to be part of, and help drive that growth. These are exciting times, and this role will be smack bang in the middle of the excitement.

The role

You’ll know what the average creative director does. But we’re not after the average creative director. People and culture are a big deal for us, and we want someone who will fit into the positivity, passion and raw talent that’s brimming within our agency. 

You’ll have a role in the development and quality of output of our creative team (currently 10 strong). You’ll help steer their creative work across multiple channels and brand types. They’re a fantastically varied and motivated team, growing in skill all the time. You’ll inspire them to continue doing good work and to up their game. We have a hunger for awards, and gradually you’ll help them get shelves full of them. And you’ll play an active role in their career development, goal-setting and engagement. You’ll be well-versed in giving clear and useful creative feedback but you’ll also roll up your sleeves and batter it into shape yourself. 

You’ll be expected to deliver cracking ideas of your own too, and your portfolio will have plenty of brilliant “I wish I’d thought of that” ideas to show you can.

On pitches, you’ll be able to lead the creative, working closely with strategy and design to find the one thing the client can’t say no to. You’ll also charm would-be clients with your quick thinking, intelligence and no-nonsense approach.

Creativity is at the heart of what we do, and you’ll make sure that it remains strategically on point, and translates into work that yields credible results. We don’t just get things out of the door, we make stuff to be proud of, to answer business problems, and to make brands famous.

The creative department (like the rest of the agency) is growing, so you’ll also work with other senior team members to shape it and make more key hires. This is a chance to stamp your mark on an agency and as such, you’ll need the ambition to want to do so.

You will work with the ECD, Head of Planning and other senior team members to shape unforgettable work, build the agency and make Impero a place where everyone wants to work. You certainly won’t be just another cog in the machine.

The type of people we want to meet

You’ll be someone who’s able to spot a great idea from fifty paces. Someone who has great ideas of your own. Someone who knows what a big idea is, how to articulate it, bring it to iife in multiple touch points, and sell it with great passion and aplomb. But you’ll be just as good with tactical executions and great content. And when it’s ready, you can convince, persuade and delight. 

You will be obsessive about craft – haunted by that little thing you can’t quite put your finger on, until you spot it, and use it to elevate the work another satisfying notch.

You’ll have a real understanding of the awards world, not least because you’ve won plenty of them, but also because you know how to enter them, how to play the game, how to tune up work to give it the best shot.

And, of course you’ll have the respect of the people you manage (and everyone else).

We’re an agile, fast-paced, and hands-on agency – and we work best with others that take the same approach. Art or copy? We have no preference, but as a leader, you’ll need to be well-rounded.

What else

You’ll never work alone, there is always support from all corners of the agency, including our head of strategy, accounts teams and head of design. Having said that, you’ll be comfortable running and leading pieces of work yourself and supporting others in their own roles.

Most importantly, you must have the same fire as the rest of our team to push Impero onwards and upwards with famous work that keeps on entering culture.
