Hello, we’re Impero.

We’re a multi-disciplined, independent, award-winning creative agency that makes tired brands famous again. We work with high profile brands such as Heineken, Havana Club, Beefeater Gin, Ugg, Lindt Chocolate, General Mills, Danone, Money Super Market, 7Up and a bunch of others.

We’re pretty good at what we do. Amongst other awards, in 2018 we won five Agency of The Year(s) including The Drum DADI Agency of the Year. We were also shortlisted as Campaign Independent Agency of the Year. We’ve also won multiple design and creative awards for our work and have got our sights on a Cannes Lion this year.

There’s about 30 of us (not including the dogs) — but that number grows all the time because we’re still young, ambitious and do great work.

We’re also 70% female with a 50/50 gender split on the senior team. We can proudly boast 100% pay parity.

We gladly do things differently. We ‘re super ambitious, brutally honest and always deliver. We don’t really like the ‘Old Guard’ of advertising. And, working here is hell of a lot of fun.

This is a growing agency, we’re looking for a CD who wants to be part of and help drive that growth.

The role has three main facets:

1) Award Winning Creative Direction

We can’t stress enough how important creative work is to us and our future.

For our clients: We do amazing work, across some pretty cool categories. Work that makes a real business difference to our clients. And allows us to build trust with them to produce more.

For ourselves: As we grow our own business we realise the need to continue to grow our own profile and whist we have heaps of award winning work under our belts, we’ve set our sites on winning big in the next award season (we wont stop until we have a shelf full of Lion’s and Pencils) - our CD will play a major role in that. You’ll need to share that ambition.

We’re looking for someone who has a proven track record of taking a 360 approach to creativity. Someone who can think of ‘the big idea’ and show how to bring it to life across multiple touch points for brands.

But also someone who is just as comfortable creating a big global brand campaign, as much as a tactical executional , or a brilliant piece of content .

We’re a small, agile, fast paced, hands on agency - we work best with others that take the same approach. We’re looking for someone who can generate great ideas, pitch them into our clients (new and existing) and then see them through to fruition. (All with our support of course).

Art or copy? We have no pre-conceived ideas on what your strong point needs to be, but we would stress, as a leader, the need to be well rounded.

2) Creative Leadership

People and culture is huge for us.

You will be the leader of our creative team (currently 6 strong). Helping them to do a huge breadth of creative work across multiple channels and brand types.

They’re a fantastic, motivated, brilliant team that grows all the time. Part of the job here is to inspire them to continue to do great work. That includes playing an active role in their career development, goal setting and engagement.

You will make sure that creativity is at the heart of what we do, remains strategically on point, and translates into work that yield incredible results. You will feel comfortable feeding back on ideas to your team and curating them to allow for the best final response to the brief.

This team (like the whole agency) is growing, so you’ll also work with us to to shape the future of the team and make key hires.

3) Agency Leadership

As a large part of this agency, you’ll not be a cog in a machine, we’re looking for someone excited about shaping the agency’s future and ambitious about growth.

You’ll be part of a senior leadership team that meets regularly to put in place the strategies and plans to push the agency forwards.

This is a chance to stamp your mark on an agency and as such you’ll need the ambition to want to do so.

What else:

You’ll be working with me (Michael, the guy writing this advert) I’m the founder and ECD, we’ll work together or separately on different projects and pitches.

You’ll also be working a lot with our head of strategy and head of design, who are fucking awesome.

You’ll need to demonstrate experience in pitching, and presenting to clients, you will be a natural at communicating ideas and making them leap off the page.

You’ll never work alone, there is always support from all corners of the agency, including our head of strategy, accounts teams and head of design. Having said that, you’ll be comfortable running and leading pieces of work yourself and supporting others in their own roles.

We’d love to see a proven track record of winning awards and running a great team.

Most importantly, you must have the same fire as the rest of our team to push Impero to continue to make award winning work. You must be talented, ambitious and driven.

  • Create a piece of work capable of winning a major award (D&AD, Cannes)
  • Ensure the continued high function, creative excellence and engagement of the creative team
  • Lead and win 2 pitches.
